At the Mid-Shore Regional Council’s (MSRC) quarterly meeting on December 10, attendees were treated to the debut of a new mini-documentary highlighting the impactful work of the organization.
The video, EDDs in Action: Mid-Shore Regional Council, was produced by the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) in partnership with the National Association of Regional Councils (NARC), with funding provided by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). The project was led by Joe D’Antonio, Program Manager at NADO, and Matthew Leder, Program Manager at NARC.
The film is part of NADO’s Economic Development District (EDD) Community of Practice, a national network that supports and connects more than 400 EDDs across the country. Through this series, NADO showcases how regional organizations like MSRC are addressing economic challenges and fostering growth in their communities.
NADO and NARC will be sharing the MSRC video broadly with their memberships and throughout the EDD Community of Practice. Earlier this year, Mr. D’Antonio also presented the film at the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Conference in Detroit during a session focused on economic development storytelling. In addition, the video will be featured at NADO’s upcoming Washington Policy Conference.
The mini-documentary offers a compelling look at MSRC’s role in advancing regional economic development and underscores the importance of collaboration, planning, and local leadership in supporting distressed communities.
What Is an Economic Development District (EDD)?
An Economic Development District (EDD) is a designation from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA). EDDs serve multi-jurisdictional regions in which at least one geographic area—such as a county—meets federal criteria for economic distress, based on factors like per capita income and unemployment rates. These districts play a vital role in coordinating regional strategies to promote economic resilience and growth.
