Caroline County Economic Development and Tourism is proud to announce the successful graduation of the first class of Economic Edge: The Caroline County Business Academy. This innovative program was designed to empower local entrepreneurs with the tools, resources, and support needed to successfully grow and manage their small businesses in Caroline County.
Led by renowned business coach Will Holmes of Will Holmes Consulting (WHC)—an award-winning advisory firm that has helped over 12,000 entrepreneurs since 2006 and developed technical solutions for government agencies, financial institutions, and universities across the globe—the Academy delivered a dynamic and practical business curriculum tailored to the needs of local entrepreneurs.
Over the course of the 8-week program, participants engaged in hands-on sessions covering essential business topics such as developing a sustainable organizational infrastructure, marketing, accounting, financial management, legal structure, and access to capital. The program also emphasized mentorship, collaboration, and real-world applications.
At a graduation ceremony, eight local entrepreneurs were recognized for their commitment and achievements:

- Savannah S. Winston – VanTech Business Solutions
- Crystal M. Wilson – Loved in Your Home LLC
- Myisha L. Walker – Walker Enterprise
- Patrice D. Flamer – Spirit and Mind Incorporated
- Tanya L. Taylor – I.C.E.D.
- Xaviera A. Curtis – Gingerly Supportive Home Care
“These entrepreneurs exemplify the spirit of innovation and resilience that drives our local economy,” said Bob Zimberoff, Director of Caroline County Economic Development and Tourism. “We are incredibly proud of the strategy, structure, and confidence they developed throughout the program, and we’re excited to see what they do next.”
Economic Edge: The Caroline County Business Academy was made possible through a partnership with the Mid-Shore Regional Council (MSRC) and funded by a grant from the Rural Maryland Prosperity Investment Fund (RMPIF), administered by the Rural Maryland Council (RMC).
